New Release

A Dark Secret and a Supernatural Conspiracy

On an 18th century Earth where dragons living as humans will kill to hide their true presence...

Robin, a woman of science with amnesia and strange abilities, encounters a small band of men, women, and children in a forest who are being hunted. And now she's being hunted with them.

But all her companions are harboring secrets. And their meeting is no accident. Supernatural conspirators have been planning it for a very long time. Because they want something. To find out what it is, Robin and those she comes to care about must use every trick they have to survive against the enemies they know about, and those who have yet to reveal themselves.

A suspenseful, tightly-woven sci fi fantasy plot that gets bigger with each twist, leading Robin and her found family on a journey of discovery about where they belong and who they are finally meant to be. Full of heart, mysteries, ingenuity, impossible powers, magical realism, supernatural science, healing, and love.

Join the discovery in Book 1 of the Wild Light journey that may appeal to readers who have enjoyed:

  • The strength of family and love in the Mercedes Lackey Valdemar fantasy series.

  • The librarians and dragons in Genevieve Cogman’s Invisible Library fantasy mystery series.

  • The use of reason and empathy to find the truth, and a look into historical life, in Anna Lee Huber's Lady Darby historical mysteries.

  • And the foundations for Piers Anthony's Incarnations of Immortality supernatural series.

About K.B. Kveld

K.B. Kveld was writing down stories even before she became a newspaper reporter. And while she wrote about real life for newspapers and magazines, she continued to create other stories about different worlds with fictional characters. And put them into short stories, song lyrics (which earned her an award), stage plays (she has a theater background, too), poetry, and television commercials (sadly, she didn’t get to be in them, but she got to be on set).

She hadn’t really intended to become a novelist too. But when the science fiction and mystery stories she was writing got to be novel length, she realized she was already there.

When she’s not writing, or doing other work, she might be playing or writing music (with the modern versions of the instruments in her stories).

Blog Under Construction

There are so many topics that came up in the research for this series that it's difficult to choose which ones to write about first! Maybe you can help. After reading Wild Light (The Awakening), what background details would you be most interested in learning more about? (Not to be confused with 'plot' details...) Use the 'Get in Touch' form below to let K.B. know. Below are a few ideas to get you started. (They aren't linked to blogs yet.) Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Art & Science:

Would you like to learn what 18th century pigment color changed everything for painters, and why? (The color is not named in Book 1.)

Nature:

Are you interested in the research on the perception of fear and pain in animals? (This relates to something that happens in the Valley in Book 1.)

History:

Are you curious about the history of how people expressed gratitude across different cultures, and the impact it had on their behavior and customs?
